Black River Bream and Bass Tournament rescheduled

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The annual Black River Bream and Bass Tournament has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 22 from 4 to 9 p.m., the Bladen Journal reports.

The event is sponsored by the White Lake Baptist Church Brotherhood, and boats can start to be checked in at 3 p.m.

Students presented with awards during end of year athletic banquet

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Athletes at West Bladen High School were given awards last month during the end of year athletic banquet.

According to the school district's website, the following awards were presented:

Football

Offensive Lineman  -  Velarde Reyes

MVP  -  Zack Wilcox

Offensive Back  -  Malcolm Vaught

Defensive Back  -  Parker Allen and Edward Owens

Most Improved  -  Chris Lemmings

Dixie Youth Softball Tournament taking place at end of month

BLADENBORO, NC (WECT) – A Dixie Youth Softball Tournament will be taking place soon at Wateree Park in Bladenboro, according to The Bladen Journal.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31 and 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Wateree Park in Bladenboro.

Men’s and women’s divisions will be playing, and participants must be 18 years or older to play.

East Bladen alumni basketball game less than 2 weeks away

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The East Bladen Booster Club's alumni basketball game for former players of the old and new East Bladen High Schools is right around the corner, according to the Bladen County School System’s website.

The games will take place at the new East Bladen on Saturday, May 11.

Starting at 4 p.m., there will be a women’s basketball game, followed by the men’s game.

Last varsity baseball game of season for East, West Bladen happens May 3

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – If you’re a big baseball fan, you won’t want to miss East and West Bladen High School’s last varsity games of the season – the schools play against each other Friday, May 3, according to the schools’ websites.

The game will take place at West Bladen at 6 p.m.

West Bladen High is located at 1600 N. Carolina 410 in Bladenboro.

Get ready for the Crazy Color Run

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Crazy Color Run will take place this weekend in Bladenboro.

The event will take place Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Hall of Bladenboro, but the deadline to register was April 17.

Runners will be blasted with different colored powder at each mile marker or this 5K event.

White T-shirts are required for the start of the race and sunglasses or goggles are suggested.

Today is the last day to register now for the Crazy Color Run

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Today is the last day to register for the Crazy Color Run in Bladenboro next month.

All ages are invited to take part in the fun 3.2 mile walk/run. Runners will be blasted with different colored powder at each mile marker.

White T-shirts are required for the start of the race and sunglasses or goggles are suggested.

Registration fees are available at Bladenboro Town Hall, Bladenboro Fitness Center and Healthworks of Elizabethtown. The deadline to register is April 17.

The cost is $25 for everyone over 18 and $20 for those 8-18 years of age. Children 7 and under are free.

The event will take place Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Hall of Bladenboro.
