Emergency healthcare plan forms available for free at hospital

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Bladen County Hospital will provide information and forms about healthcare plans in case of an emergency during an event on Wednesday, May 16.

According to a news release, Advance Directives are forms that let physicians and caretakers know your healthcare wishes if you are ever hospitalized and unable to make decisions yourself. They’ll be available for free in the hospital’s lobby from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Forms can be completed during the event and notarized for free.

Three local clinics receive highest possible designation

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The National Committee for Quality Assurance gave all three Bladen Medical Associates clinics a level three designation, according to a news release.

Level three is the highest level possible and it recognizes “facilities that use evidence-based, patient-centered processes to address a patient’s entire range of healthcare needs, including disease prevention, early detection and care coordination.”

The three Bladen Medical Associates clinics are in Elizabethtown, Bladenboro and Dublin.

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A rabies and pet wellness event will take place Saturday in Elizabethtown.

Vaccines will be given for $6 each at the Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital, located at 4629 U.S. Hwy. 701 South, according to the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event will take place between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. on May 12.

East Bladen High student heading to FSU Health Academy

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A local student will be participating in the 2012 Health Academy Summer Camp in Fayetteville.

East Bladen High School junior Kristi McDowell was accepted into the program at Fayetteville State University, according to a post on the Bladen County Schools website. She’ll go to the camp in June.

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A rabies and pet wellness event will take place next Saturday in Elizabethtown.

Five rabies clinics scheduled for Saturday in Bladen Co.

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Five different rabies clinics will take place in Bladen County on Saturday, April 14.

Here is a list of the times and locations:

  • Elizabethtown Township, Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital, 12:30 until 3:30 p.m.
  • Abbottsburg Township, Abbottsburg Post Office, 9:30 until 10 a.m.
  • Bladenboro Township, Spaulding/Monroe on Hwy. 211, 10:20 until 10:50 a.m.
  • Hickory Grove Township, Butters Baptist Church, 11:10 until 11:40 a.m.
  • Bladenboro Township, Bladenboro Historical Building, 12 until 12:30 p.m.

The cost for the rabies shot, which can be given to dogs and cats, is $6 per pet.

In Bladen County, the owners of dogs and cats that have not been vaccinated are subject to a civil penalty in the amount of $200.

Other rabies clinics are scheduled for May 12, June 16 and July 14.
