Community blood drive to be held at Bladen County Farm Bureau

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WECT) — The Bladen County Farm Bureau in Elizabethtown will hold a community blood drive on Wednesday, May 25 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., according to the Bladen Journal.

Bladen County Board of Commissioners to meet Monday

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) — The Bladen County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

The proposed budget will be the topic of conversation. The meeting will reportedly be held in room G-8 of the Bladen County Courthouse.

White Lake Water Festival queens announced

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) — The 2011 White Lake Water Festival queens were crowned last Saturday at the White Lake Festival Pageant.

According to the Bladen Journal, the follow young ladies won:

  • Junior Miss Taylor Leonard
  • Queen Hana Thornton
  • Princess Halee Ann Simpson
  • Tiny Miss Jenna McLean
  • Little Miss Mason Godbold

May Day festival, parade to be held on Saturday

RIEGELWOOD, NC (WECT) — The East Arcadia Elementary School May Day festival and parade will reportedly be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14.

The school is located on Hwy. 87 East in Riegelwood.

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WECT) — East Bladen High School students will be dressing to impress on Tuesday, May 17.

Don’t forget to wear your nicest clothes, Eagles!

Also, on Wednesday, May 18 the school’s JROTC will be having their awards ceremony.

Local school hosts reverse raffle for steak dinner Saturday

BLADENBORO, NC (WECT) — The Junior Beta Club at Bladenboro Middle School is having a reverse raffle for a steak dinner on Saturday, May 14 at 8 a.m.

According to the school’s website, the raffle will take place in the Bladenboro Middle cafeteria.
