Students tell bullies to "moo-ve" over

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Students at Elizabethtown Primary School are telling bullies to “moo-ve” over this week, according to the Bladen County Schools website.

The school is dedicating this week to raise awareness about bullying and its harm on others.

There will be an assembly to kick off the “Moo-ve Over Bullies!” slogan, in addition to a writing contest, recess activities, and a bully pledge banner in the foyer of the school.

A “Bully Box” will be around school for students to report bullying they see.

Students are encouraged to dress up in a different way each day and prizes will be given to the best dressed. Here’s the dress up schedule from the school:

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Bladen County Schools will be hosting five upcoming community forums soon, according to the school system’s website.

Participants who attend are asked to discuss and share ideas regarding school facilities construction, school uniforms and school safety.

Clarkton School of Discovery group wins Battle of the Books

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Clarkton School of Discovery students recently took home the winning title at the 2013 Bladen County Schools Battle of the Books competition, according to the school system’s website.

The win came after 20 rounds and two-and-a-half hours of questions.

The seven Clarkton teammates earned 26 points in the first round, eventually earning a total of 172 points.

Elizabethtown educator named NC Runner-up Teacher Assistant of the Year

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WECT) – An Elizabethtown Primary School teacher assistant was recently recognized as the 2013-2014 North Carolina Runner-up Teacher Assistant of the Year.

According to the Bladen County Schools website, Evelyn Graham is an Exceptional Children's (EC) teacher assistant at the school and was recognized at the March 11 Board of Education meeting.

"I thought I was hearing things,” said Graham on hearing her name called at the Greensboro Teacher Assistant of the Year conference. "They had to repeat my name.  I was so excited."

Carolina Panthers will head to Bladenboro in April

Carolina Panthers will head to Bladenboro in April

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Carolina Panthers will visit students at Bladenboro Primary School next month.

The school will host the Carolina Panthers Junior Training Camp for third and fourth grade students.

This event will take place April 18 and is part of the NFL’s Play 60 program to get children active.

Chef, culinary instructor shares cooking techniques at WBHS

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A chef and culinary instructor recently shared some of his kitchen knowledge at West Bladen High School.

According to the Bladen County Schools website, Chef Robery Penry  stopped by Gail Marsh’s foods classes to show students correct cooking techniques and to give some tips.

2 schools win regional model bridge competition

2 schools win regional model bridge competition

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two schools in Bladen County recently won the 2013 Regional Model Bridge Competition.

According to a press release, about 250 students across the state participated in the four regional contests.

Each team was judged on a written report, oral presentation, design drawing and structural efficiency of the model.

Clarkton Middle School won on the Middle School level while East Bladen High School took home the high school level.

Now, both schools will compete at the statewide level next month. Good luck to both schools!
