BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two men were charged with assault and a 38-year-old man is facing an intimidating a witness charge in Bladen County.
A “serious” assault occurred on April 3 that involved a victim sustaining a broken arm and needing 16 stitches to close a head injury, according to Captain Rodney Hester with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Elizabethtown resident Lashan Tatum, 27, was recently charged with felony assault inflicting serious injury and possession of marijuana in jail. Tatum was in the Bladen County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond at the time of this post.
Meredith Jaquan Cromartie, 21, was also charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and was booked under a $75,000 secured bond.
Shawn Lindbergh Melvin, of Elizabethtown, was charged with intimidating a witness on Tuesday. Hester said that Melvin wanted the victim to drop all charges against Tatum and Cromartie. At the time of this post, Melvin was in the Jail under a $1 million secured bond and a $348.33 cash bond for failing to pay child support.
