Undercover operation results in arrest of 38-year-old man from Bladen County

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Narcotics officers purchased marijuana from a residence recently during an undercover operation that dates back to the spring of 2011.

Gardy Anthony Pierre, 38, was charged with possession with the intent to sell or deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to sell marijuana, and selling and delivering marijuana.

The marijuana was purchased from 322 McKoy Street on Wednesday, March 7, according to Elizabethtown Police Department Chief Robert Kinlaw.

He was released on a $10,500 secured bond.

Two men arrested after officers buy drugs at Elizabethtown residence

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – In response to complaints from the neighborhood, narcotics officers investigated and made drug purchases from a residence in Elizabethtown recently.

Keil Jamal Sands, 20, and Raheem Jermain Byrd, 24, were arrested at different times when officers purchased drugs at 312 East King Street, according to Elizabethtown Police Department Chief Robert Kinlaw.

Both were reportedly charged with possession with the intent to sell or deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, selling marijuana and delivering marijuana.

Sands was in the Bladen County Jail under a $6,000 bond at the time of this post. Byrd was released on a $7,000 secured bond.

Two arrested during vehicle stop near Clarkton

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A 61-year-old man from Clarkton was charged with cocaine possession after authorities noticed a bulge in his right sock.

Horace Drayton, of George W. Kelly Road, was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, manufacturing cocaine, felony possession of cocaine and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, according to Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Captain Rodney Hester.

Officers reportedly saw Drayton driving a green Ford Explorer on Hwy. 211 East near Clarkton on Sunday evening. The law enforcement officials were aware that Drayton didn’t have a valid driver’s license, so they stopped the vehicle. When Drayton was asked to exit the vehicle, authorities noticed a bulge in his right sock that appeared to be a pill bottle, according to reports.

Inside the bottle, the Sheriff’s Office found nine bags of crack cocaine rocks. Hester said, Drayton was booked in the Bladen County Jail under a $75,000 secured bond.

A 27-year-old Elizabethtown man was also taken into custody during the incident.

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Milton Willis Jr. is facing 50 counts of various drug charges and was booked in the Bladen County Jail with a $1.058 million secured bond.

Willis, who was taken into custody around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, had outstanding warrants from an undercover operation and search warrant that was conducted at a home on Sand Pit Road in November, according to Captain Rodney Hester with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

At the time of the arrest, investigators reportedly seized 14.5 grams of marijuana from Willis and charged him with simple possession of marijuana.

Here is a list of charges that he faces now:

  • Six counts of delivering marijuana
  • Three counts of conspiring to sell cocaine
  • Two counts of conspiring to deliver cocaine
  • Eight counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver
  • Seven counts of manufacturing marijuana
  • Four counts of selling marijuana
  • Two counts of maintaining a dwelling for the selling of drugs
  • One count of conspiring to sell marijuana
  • Six counts of selling or delivering marijuana
  • One count of conspiracy to deliver cocaine
  • Eight counts of possession of drug paraphernalia
  • One count of simple possession of marijuana
  • One count of felony probation violation

Officers smell marijuana in car during traffic stop, make arrest

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies in Bladen County arrested a man on drug related charges during a traffic check on NC 211 E. and Elkton Road Wednesday.

According to Captain Rodney Hester with the Bladen County Sheriff's Office, officials could smell marijuana coming from inside a silver Buick Century during the traffic check.

Hester said a glass jar containing what appeared to be marijuana was in plain view in the rear passenger seat on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Johnny Frank Harley, 29 of Riegelwood, was driving the Buick Century. He got out of his vehicle and revealed to officers he had three clear plastic bags of marijuana, eight oxycodone pills and a digital scale.

Gang violence now 'manageable' in Elizabethtown

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Gangs are still a problem in Bladen County, but it looks like the violence is decreasing, according to Elizabethtown Police Chief Robert Kinlaw.

“It’s a pretty big issue because the community as a whole and the governmental leaders all got together to put things into place to help combat the gang issues,” Kinlaw said. “That, along with law enforcement and prosecutors working to combat the gang issues, has pretty much beaten it back to the point where it’s manageable.”

He said there are still gangs present but the number of violent crimes has decreased over the past three years.
