BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A former NC vocational rehabilitation employee pleaded guilty earlier this month to two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.
According to District Attorney Jon David, Sandra Anderson Baldwin, of Elizabethtown, was charged after an SBI investigation while she worked for the NC Department of Health and Human Services Vocational Rehabilitation Division in Bladen County.
The investigation showed Baldwin misappropriated more than $17,000 of funds between August 2009 and June 2010. The DA said she used her access to the computer system to falsify and alter case records for two people who may have been eligible for services had the proper legal process been followed.
A judge sentenced Baldwin to two consecutive terms of a minimum of six months and maximum of eight months in the NC Department of Adult Corrections. According to the DA’s office, the sentence was then suspended and Baldwin was placed on supervised probation for a term of 60 months and ordered to pay restitution.
