Register now for the Crazy Color Run

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Registration is underway for the Crazy Color Run in Bladenboro next month.

All ages are invited to take part in the fun 3.2 mile walk/run. Runners will be blasted with different colored powder at each mile marker.

White T-shirts are required for the start of the race and sunglasses or goggles are suggested.

Registration fees are available at Bladenboro Town Hall, Bladenboro Fitness Center and Healthworks of Elizabethtown. The deadline to register is April 17.

The cost is $25 for everyone over 18 and $20 for those 8-18 years of age. Children 7 and under are free.

The event will take place Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Hall of Bladenboro.

Bladen We Care sets dates for fundraising events

Bladen We Care sets dates for fundraising events

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Organizer with Bladen We Care have set dates for fundraising events that benefit residents in the area with health care grants.

According to a press release, a reverse raffle/auction/dance will be held April 12 at Lu Mil Vineyard, and a golf tournament is slated for April 25 at Carolina Sands Golf Course near White Lake.

Tickets for the dance are $100 per couple and are available at Fisher’s, Leinwand’s, and Campbell Oil Company’s Peanut Road office, all in Elizabethtown. They are also available from any Bladen We Care board member.

The press release says the reverse raffle has cash prizes of $2,000, $1,000 and $500.

Entry fee for the golf tournament is $500 per four-person team or $125 for individuals. According to a press release, each entry includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, gifts and raffles. Additional information is available by contacting members of Bladen We Care or Carolina Sands at 862-8796.

Dublin Lions Club hosting BBQ plate sale, auction

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Dublin Lions Club will be hosting a barbecue plate sale and auction soon, according to The Bladen Journal.

The event will take place Friday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the auction starting at 7 p.m.

It will be held at the Dublin Lions Club Building, and the cost is $7 per plate either to eat there or take out.

TA from Elizabethtown Primary School finalist for state TA of the year

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A teacher assistant from Elizabethtown Primary School will represent the county as a finalist for the award on the state level, according to the Bladen County Schools District website.

According to the website, Ms. Evelyn Graham will interview for State Teacher of the Year Feb. 23.

Teacher assistants emerged in the state during Governor Jim Hunt’s administration as part of the 1975 Primary Reading program.

Speak up about Bladen Co. schools

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Bladen County schools will hold two community forums this week to engage the public in conversation, gathering information and sharing ideas.

According to the school district’s website, three focus areas to be discussed are:

  • School facilities construction
  • School uniforms
  • School safety

The public is encouraged to attend one or both of the forums. The meetings schedules are as follows:

  • Feb. 18 – West Bladen High School, 6 p.m.
  • Feb. 19 – East Bladen High School, 6 p.m.

These forums are not limited to the East and West attendance areas only; everyone is invited to attend.

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Ducks Unlimited is hosting a banquet at Lu Mil Vineyard soon, according to the Ducks Unlimited website.

Tickets for the event include a one-year membership and subscription to Ducks Unlimited magazine, and there will be exclusive merchandise and prizes.
