WEATHER: Isolated showers/storms Wednesday; Better chance of rain Thursday

Mostly cloudy skies will keep a lid on temperatures today. Highs will climb into the low 80s this afternoon. An isolated (20%) shower or storm is possible as well.

We are continuing to monitor a system that is currently in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center has it at a 50% chance of developing into a tropical or subtropical system over the next 48 hours. This moisture will travel to the north and bring us a good chance of showers and storms Thursday and Friday.

Tonight, lows will fall into the upper 60s. Rain chances will begin to increase after midnight. Expect scattered showers and storms throughout the day Thursday. Right now, rain chances are at about 60%. Temperatures will likely climb into the low 80s.

A better chance (70%) of widespread rain will move in Friday. Temperatures will likely climb into the low 80s.

Most areas will see 1" to 2" of rain; however, some areas could see up to 3".
