ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WECT) – Two Bladen County women are accused of stealing from a Walmart recently, one of whom is also accused of trafficking drugs.
Authorities the Elizabethtown Police Department say they responded to report of larceny at the Walmart on West Broad Street on the afternoon of July 1.
Upon arrival, they noticed two of the reported suspects outside of the store. Police recovered the stolen property inside the purses of 36-year-old Sarah Celeste Monroe of Bladenboro and 40-year-old Erika Michelle Covington of Elizabethtown.
Police also found of Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, morphine, and amphetamine salts in Monroe's bag.
Both of the women, who had outstanding warrants, were arrested and charged.
Monroe faces charges of misdemeanor larceny, felony traffic opium (2 counts), and outstanding WFA for fail to appear, while Covington was charged with misdemeanor larceny and outstanding WFA for fail to appear.
Monroe remains in jail under a $6,500 bond, while Covington was released on a $1,000 bond.
