WEATHER: Warm and muggy

Mostly sunny and mild conditions as the summer weather pattern stays in place throughout the remainder of the week.  Warm air aloft has, and will, continue to keep a lid on the chance for showers.

As the persistent sea breeze moves inland we will see temperatures hold steady in the afternoon after racing up to 83F off of  morning low of 60F

Similar weather is expected into the weekend -  but Monday a cold front will bring some cooler temperatures and shower chances.

WEATHER: Mild and summery

Mild, summerish conditions will persist today as high pressure stays entrenched just to our east.  This means southerly winds, increased humidity and warm afternoon high temperatures.

Expect the upper 80s along the western edge of the area, dropping to the lower 80s as you approach the beaches during the afternoon.

Not many changes between now and next week with the exception of some afternoon thunderstorm chances during the late afternoon as we move into the weekend.

Business boom in eastern Columbus County

Tri County Job Center opened in the Riegelwood area in March 2012.

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - If you drive through Columbus County on Highway 74/76, you may have noticed the Delco and Riegelwood area has become a little busy.

Over the past year, several new businesses have opened in the eastern part of the county. They include a job center, new dentist office, and even a charter school is in the works.

According to some business owners, they picked the location because they can target people in Columbus, Brunswick, and Bladen counties who drive through the area.

Some elected officials believe the area is also attracting people who hope it will soon become an interstate.

WEATHER: Back to work, back to summer conditions

Many of us will head back to work today with conditions that make us wish we had one or two more days off.

High temperatures will move into the mid 80s and gradually warm throughout the week.  Look for mostly sunny to partly sunny skies today with afternoon clouds developing.

We will have slight chances for showers and humidity increasing throughout the week, however with a strong cap in place, not much precipitation is expected.  We are likely to end May -2.00" behind on average rainfall.

Overnight low temperatures will also be more reflective of this time of year – dropping into the muggy mid 60s.
